The Novellas are a 5-piece hailing from the Bega Valley. Our songs are inspired by contemporary works of fiction from Australia and beyond. Sparse & atmospheric, The Novellas paint in song the evocations of the printed word and celebrate the emotional power of storytelling.
The Novellas concept was born when singer/songwriter Myoung Jae Yi used his book reading hangovers as raw material for his songwriting contributions to the Candelo Songwriters Club. This quickly developed into a burning desire to spread the word about authors such as Michelle de Kretser, Carrie Tiffany and Dave Eggers, to name but a few.

The lineup is Myoung Jae Yi on vocals and guitar, bassist Josh Becker, Joe Fragnito on drums and vibes, Andrew Gray on piano and vocals and Georgina Hargraves on oboe, flute, and saxophone.

Joining The Novellas is actor Patrick Dickson in the role of HAŇT´A the book crusher. HAŇT´A springs forth from the book "Too Loud a Solitude" by Czech author Bohumil Hrabal. He will infuse your spirit with his love of books and delight with tales from a bittersweet life.https://thenovellasofficial.com

"Let's started playing together in 2017. Using electronics and guitar, the sound touches on noise, jazz and drone. Their music comes from limiting plans or discussion to find places unmapped."
